In Okage: Shadow King, the Evil King (魔王, Maō, literally "Demon King") is said to be the ruler of the Ghosts and the most powerful being in the world. Evil Kings are typically driven to complete a World Conquest. While there is only one true Evil King at a time, there are also several Fake Evil Kings (ニセ魔王, Nise Maō) who stole Evil King Stan's power and have caused trouble for the world under the guise of being true Evil Kings.

History[]

300 years prior to the events of Okage: Shadow King, the Great Evil King Gohma was a powerful Evil King believed to have destroyed half the world until he was defeated by the Great Hero Hopkins. Gohma's reincarnation, Stanley Hihat Trinidad XIV, was sealed away in Pollack's Bottle until the present day (aside from a temporary release 3 years before the present day), when Ari became Stan's slave and Stan possessed Ari's shadow.

However, it is revealed that while Stan was sealed away in the bottle, his power had been stolen by several individuals who then proceeded to claim the title of Evil King. Stan, in his weakened form, is unsuccessful in fearing the people of the world, thought instead to just be a trick Ari is able to do with his shadow. Furious with this revelation, Stan has Ari embark on a journey to hunt down every Fake Evil King and defeat them in order to restore Stan back to his full power.

Gohma[]

Great Evil King Gohma (大魔王ゴーマ, Daimaō Gōma) was the embodiment of pure evil 300 years ago. He destroyed half the world during his reign of terror until the Great Hero Hopkins defeated him in battle.

Stan[]

Stanley Hihat Trinidad XIV (スタンリーハイハットトリニダード14世, Sutanrī Haihatto Torinidādo Jūyonsei), better known as Stan and sometimes referred to as Shadow Evil King, is the reincarnation of Gohma. In the present day, he has possessed Ari's shadow and has made Ari his servant. Despite being a shadow, Stan is able to stand upright off the ground and interact with physical objects. His Evil King power is initially weak due to the Fake Evil Kings stealing his power, but he becomes progressively stronger after each Evil King is defeated.

Sewer Evil King[]

Sewer Evil King (下水道魔王, Gesuidō Maō, literally "Sewer Demon King") is the first Fake Evil King defeated by the party. He is a large mouse ghost living in the Madril Sewer who was given Block's Evil King power. As a Fake Evil King he briefly took control of Madril's bottom floor while being based within the Sewer. After his defeat, Former Sewer Evil King fled the scene, and he is later shown to have joined Block's circus troop stationed in Rumille Plain.

Bubble Evil King[]

Bubble Evil King (水泡魔王, Suihō Maō, literally "Bubble Demon King") is the second Fake Evil King defeated by the party. He is a large aquatic creature living in the Aquatic Ruins. As a Fake Evil King he kidnapped Princess Marlene when she paid a visit to the Ruins. After his defeat, Former Bubble Evil King continues to live at the Aquatic Ruins.

Chairman Evil King[]

Chairman Evil King (会長魔王, Kaichō Maō, literally "Chairman Demon King") is the third Fake Evil King defeated by the party. He is the head of Mr. Big Inc. in Madril. As a Fake Evil King he started rumors in Madril that Heroes and Ghosts were working together for profit, causing the city to fall into unruliness. When the party confronted him, he resigned from his Chairman position and fled to the Escapeless Abyss. After his defeat, Former Chairman Evil King returned to his Chairman position at Mr. Big Inc. and cleared up the rumors he started. He also provided the party with the Miniature Statue, which granted them access to the Transverse Tunnel.

Big Bull Evil King[]

Big Bull Evil King (巨牛魔王, Kyogyū Maō, literally "Big Bull Demon King") is the fourth Fake Evil King defeated by the party. An anthropomorphic bull, Big Bull Evil King is a fighter who has no desires of world conquest. Instead, he just simply wants to find and fight strong opponents. When the party meets him in Pospos Snowfield, he quickly decides on the Big Tree Hole to be where he wants to fight. After his defeat, Former Big Bull Evil King joins the party and starts going by just Big Bull (ビッグブル, Biggu Buru).

Teen Idol Evil King[]

Teen Idol Evil King (アイドル魔王, Aidoru Maō, literally "Idol Demon King"), better known by her real name Linda (リンダ, Rinda), is the fifth Fake Evil King defeated by the party. An aspiring teen idol singer, Linda is met by Ari and Stan long before the revelation that she is an Evil King. After Ari and Stan help Linda gain confidence in her music abilities, she uses her Evil King powers to brainwash all of Madril into loving her. Linda has a crush on Stan (but initially thought he was Ari), and when she was confronted with the fact that she and Stan would have to fight she fled to the Sealed Cave. After her defeat, Linda joins the party.

Phantom Evil King[]

Phantom Evil King (幻影魔王, Genei Maō, literally "Phantom Demon King") is the sixth Fake Evil King defeated by the party. A mysterious wizard, Phantom Evil King has a strong understanding of Classification, and he believes everyone, including himself, should adhere to playing their role in the world. The party first meets him in Pospos Snowfield in Chapter 4, either right after the party meets Big Bull Evil King or while the party is on their way to the Sealed Cave, where he warns the party not to venture further because what lies beyond is not their world. He later appears in Triste in Chapter 5 where he scolds Block for defying classification and helping Ari return to the world. Finally he meets the party again in the Addashi Desert, instructing them that they will fight at the Gear Tower and that the key is in the Deep Grave Pit. After his defeat, Former Phantom Evil King leads the party to Highland, where he tells them his real name Epros (エプロス, Epurosu) and joins the party.

Vampire Evil King[]

Vampire Evil King (吸血魔王, Kyūketsu Maō, literally "Vampire Demon King") is the seventh and final Fake Evil King defeated by the party. A literal vampire, Vampire Evil King is created by Beiloune to be the ultimate Evil King to send after the party. He resides in Highland, where the villagers are classified to have their sole purpose be for his feeding. He is defeated by the party, but Stan does not return to full power because Beiloune took away some of Vampire Evil King's power. After his defeat, Former Vampire Evil King summons the bridge to travel from Highland to the World Library, but he does not with the party because he wasn't invited.

Circus Evil King[]

Circus Evil King (サーカス魔王, Sākasu Maō, literally "Circus Demon King"), better known by his real name Block (ブロック, Burokku), is the ringmaster of the circus. Ari meets Block several times throughout the story, but it is not revealed until Chapter 5 that Block used to be a Fake Evil King. Though he had become a Fake Evil King by stealing some of Stan's power, he transferred all his Evil King power to the Sewer Evil King at an unknown time prior to the events of the game. After giving up his Evil King power, Block continued on as a ringmaster, and he later started giving out copies of the Map o'Evil Kings after Stan was released from Pollack's Bottle.
